Brogden is proud to announce that the Brogden Band has been recognized by the North Carolina Bandmasters Association (NCBA) as a 2026 Program of Distinction, honoring the program’s outstanding musical performance, student participation, and commitment to providing a comprehensive band experience.

The Program of Distinction is one of the NCBA’s recognitions for middle and high school band programs across North Carolina. To earn the designation, programs must meet all requirements of the NCBA Program of Merit and earn an “Excellent” or “Superior” rating at the Concert Band Music Performance Adjudication (MPA).

Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, Brogden Band students demonstrated excellence both on and beyond the concert stage. The program’s accomplishments included:

Participation in honor band opportunities, including county and district-level ensembles;

• Jazz Band rehearsals, musical development, and performances;

• Participation in Solo & Ensemble events;

• Community outreach and special performances, including Hispanic Heritage Month and holiday events;

Collaborative performances with Riverside High School, including winter and spring concerts and Middle School Night with the Riverside High School Marching Band; and at least four major summative performance experiences, including concerts, Music Performance Adjudication, and a performance trip to Carowinds.

According to the North Carolina Bandmasters Association, the Program of Distinction builds upon the Program of Merit by adding an external evaluation of musical performance. The designation recognizes programs that demonstrate both a broad, inclusive band experience and a high standard of musical quality as evaluated through Concert Band MPA.

The honor also reflects Brogden’s continued commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities in the arts and creating experiences that allow them to discover their talents, build confidence, and represent their school community with pride.

Brogden Middle School extends its congratulations to every student who contributed to the Band’s success during the 2025–2026 school year, as well as the families, staff members, community partners, and supporters who helped make these opportunities possible.

As Brogden begins the 2026–2027 school year, the Band looks forward to building upon this achievement and continuing its tradition of musical excellence.
